With the bottom row of vertices still selected.
Hit E to Extrude. Edges.
Hit Esc(escape).
Hit S to scale outward.
Hold Ctrl and move your mouse out about four times. X 1.4000 Y 1.4000
Z 1.4000

Hit E to Extrude. Edges.
Hit Z to stay on the z plane.
Move your mouse down a little so you extrude to the next indent in
the top. Enter

| Before goin on.
Look on your panel for Modifiers.
Click the add Modifier button.
Subsurf Catmull-Clark 2 levels. See image.
Depending on your memory constraints adjust the levels however you
like. I suggest 2.

Now to work down the top. I want the top to look thick so instead
of just extruding down once and stretching the vertices out. Lets
do this in a couple steps.
With the bottom row of vertices still selected.
Hit E to Extrude. Edges.
Hit Z to stay on the z plane.
Hit -minus on the keypad.
Hit .2 Enter. -0.2 on the global Z.
